Ride The Rockies 2010

Grand Junction to Salida - June 13 - 19, 2010

The 25th Anniversary Ride The Rockies tour was epic! At 542 miles and 31,897 feet of climbing it was bigger, badder, longer & higher than any of the previous 24. Our route took us up through the beautiful Colorado National Monument & back to Grand Junction the first day. On Monday, we rode east to Palisade & over Grand Mesa to Delta. Day 3 took us to Ouray, "the Switzerland of America". Wednesday we rode up Red Mountain on the spectacular "Million Dollar Highway" then over Molas & Coal Bank Passes to Durango. Day 5 went down almost to the New Mexico State line and back north to Chimney Rock and then Pagosa Springs. Friday took us over Wolf Creek Pass to Alamosa and finally Saturday we rode up the San Luis Valley and over Poncha Pass to Salida. Seven days in all. The climbs were amazing. Grand Mesa is considered the 2nd most difficult climb in Colorado after Mt. Evans and the 18th most difficult climb in the United States.
